Home and Leisure: 5 spaces showcasing the neutral trend in Lagos

Lagos is ever expanding; from the fresh wet sands of Eko Atlantic to the SOM designed Alaro City on the outskirts of Ibeju Lekki. The Lekki Free Trade Zone currently has Dangote's New Petroleum refinery, another mega project expanding the city's livable boundaries and investment opportunities.

The spaces people live and work have changed to follow an urban culture; full of neutrals, planting and the occasional eclectic mix of colours to spice it up. From muted tones for office spaces to minimal styling for homes, it's all a visual shift from heavy colours and textures from a few years back.

Today, tranquil homes and contemporary spaces are being built to model a global trend of livable cities. The following projects showcase the pulse of new spaces in the city of Lagos, Nigeria.

This 3-bedroom home renovation in a high-rise apartment block in upscale Ikoyi has Nordic influences, neutral tones with a splash of orange to highlight the dining area. The highlight of the living area is a mirrored inner wall and column bringing in more light deeper into the apartment, and reflecting the interior and warm sunlight.

Located in Ibeshe, on an island between the lagoon and the ocean sits a 6 duplex cabin beach resort with a pool and open lounge over-looking the pool. It's a destination resort with lots of amenities and activities for a couple or group stay. Calming ocean waves and the fresh smell of the sea are just a stroll away and always beckon through the large doors of the cabin.

The main building is framed by lots of swaying palms as you enter and the open lounge on the first floor is shrouded by an intricate laser-cut façade as you approach from the gate.

The latest beach house at Ibeshe, Lagos, recently featured in the Showmax series: The Real Housewives of Lagos. An open floor style apartment style with 7 units on each floor, the ground units each open up to the pool on the side while the units above have a terrace over-looking the pool.
